Veterinary Medical Director Jobs
Clinical directors have responsibilities beyond dealing with sick and injured animals. Not only must they ensure excellent quality of care, they’re tasked with overseeing the legal and administrative side of their veterinary practice.
It’s a role that includes clinical vetting, supervision and support of the veterinary team, managing staff and appointments and expanding the clinic’s case load.
You may also be involved in managing your staff more than treating animals, but that depends on the size of the practice and how much hands-on support they need.
How much can you earn as a veterinary clinical director?
With the extra responsibility of these types of role comes a higher salary and medical veterinary directors are some of the highest-paying jobs in the profession depending on the experience of the candidate.
Medical director veterinarians in the US have an average salary of around $170,000 per annum, although this can vary greatly depending on the particular state.
Medical vet directors in the UK can expect to earn between £55,000 – £72,000 ($69,400 – $90, 840), although larger corporate veterinary practices can earn far beyond this.
