Job Description: Our client is seeking a Small Animal Medical Director to lead clinical operations within a modern primary and urgent care practice. This role combines hands-on veterinary care with leadership responsibilities, ensuring high standards of medicine while fostering a collaborative and positive team culture. 

This position is ideal for an experienced veterinarian with leadership experience who enjoys mentoring colleagues, developing clinical protocols, and driving overall hospital performance. You will partner closely with operational leadership to support both clinical excellence and business success.

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing clinical standards and ensuring high-quality patient care  
  • Mentoring and developing veterinary team members through coaching and case discussions  
  • Managing team performance and contributing to a positive workplace culture  
  • Collaborating with management on operations, scheduling, and recruitment  
  • Developing and implementing clinical protocols and best practices  
  • Handling client concerns and supporting an excellent client experience  
  • Providing consultations, diagnostics, and treatment as a practicing veterinarian  

Qualifications Needed:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent  
  • Licensure (or eligibility) to practice in New York  
  • 2–5+ years of clinical veterinary experience preferred  
  • Leadership experience preferred  
  • Strong clinical, communication, and leadership skills  
  • Ability to balance clinical and operational responsibilities  

Package:

  • Salary range $170,000 – $200,000 depending on experience
