What is an Associate Veterinarian?

An Associate Veterinarian diagnoses illness, performs surgery and gives owners valuable advice on animal aftercare. They’re employed by veterinary clinics or practices to provide treatment rather than owning and operating their own practice.

Associate Veterinarian duties include:

  • Examination and diagnosis.
  • Treatment of injuries, disorders and diseases.
  • Performing surgery.
  • Maintaining medical records.

Associate veterinarians can also be required to perform everyday tasks, including inventory checks.

As an Associate Veterinarian, you’ll continue to learn while you work and will be mentored by the senior practitioners.

How much can you earn as an Associate Veterinarian?

Associate veterinarians can expect to earn excellent salaries in most developed countries.
