Job Details: Our client would like to welcome a Vet Surgeon or Senior Vet Surgeon to join their team working on in-patient cases.

Overview of the role:

  • A key member of the veterinary practice team providing clinical and professional services to our customers and their animals including preventative, diagnostic and therapeutic care.
  • To have an active interest in clinical work, mainly internal medicine and ECC
  • To ensure inpatients are fully cared for, worked up as per owners’ consent.
  • Communicate with owners on daily basis about hospitalised patients
  • Mentor and help more junior vets

Responsibilities:

  • Assess all cases, formulating and implementing preventative, diagnostic and treatment plans as appropriate. Work collaboratively with colleagues within the practice to do the same.
  • Ensure the treatment is carried out in accordance with practice protocols.
  • To ensure the clinical team maintains regular communication with clients regarding case progress and clients are advised of case costs and informed consent is given.
  • Complete clinical records and maintain including complete charging out of goods and services.
  • Liaise with staff at charities and rescue centres with regard to providing veterinary care for their animals.
  • To work alongside and delegate tasks as required with other clinical and support staff.
  • To provide mentoring and support of the more junior vets.
  • Any other task, consistent with the position of Veterinary surgeon, as required by the Practice Management Team.
  • Under the Health & Safety at work Act 1974, whilst at work, must take reasonable care for own health & safety and that of any other person who may be affected by your acts or omissions.

The role will involve 36 hours per week, 8AM-8PM. 

Skills/Qualifications:

  • MRCVS
  • ECC / internal medicine qualification or working towards
  • Confident with diagnostic imaging (xrays, US +/- CT)
  • Ability to communicate confidently with people at all levels
  • Able to prioritise work based on clinical priority and importance
  • A proven problem solver
  • Attention to detail in all aspects of role – consistently produces work to the highest standard.
