What are the Licensing Requirements for DVM Jobs in Pennsylvania?

Veterinarians in Pennsylvania are required to have a license to practice in the state. The requirements are as follows:

  • Degree requirement: Applicants must have proof of graduation from the AVMA or a certificate of equivalence from the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates.
  • Examination requirement: Applicants must have taken and passed NAVLE or NBE & CCT.
  • All applicants must show experience in a clinical setting.
  • Completion of continuing education is not required for the initial license. A continuing education requirement of 30 hours is required for each biennial renewal
  • A licensing fee of $35 is paid for the initial license.
