Job Details: An esteemed client of ours in County Antrim seeks a seasoned large animal Vet Surgeon to step into the role of Group Veterinary Officer. Here’s what makes this position special:
- Ensuring compliance with the Artificial Insemination of Cattle Regulations (NI) and relevant EU directives
- Acting as the Approved Veterinarian, overseeing all facets of commercial A.I. service
- Upholding biosecurity and welfare protocols across all sites
- Handling import/export certification for semen movements
- Leading the licensed E.T. service team
- Providing veterinary supervision for Technician service
- Directing D.I.Y. A.I. training
- Conducting farmer presentations on breeding and fertility management
Required Skills and Education:
- Veterinary Degree recognized by RCVS and Veterinary Council of Ireland
- Minimum of two years’ experience with large animals
- Strong communication skills to foster relationships with customers, colleagues, and regulatory bodies
- Proficiency in IT systems and data analysis
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Skills and Education:
- Familiarity with export systems like Traces NT and DECOL
- Postgraduate qualification in cattle health/production (e.g., Cert AVP, DBR, etc.)
- Experience in a commercial setting
- Proficiency in cattle artificial insemination and embryo transfer
- Competence in ultrasonic scanning
- Previous experience delivering talks/presentations to farmer groups
