Qualifications Needed:
- Board certification or equivalent specialist credentials in Veterinary Surgery, with practice-limited surgeons also considered.
- Ability to obtain or maintain the necessary veterinary licence to practise in California.
- Advanced surgical expertise with confidence in managing challenging referral and specialist procedures.
- Strong clinical decision-making skills and an interest in developing effective surgical protocols.
- Excellent communication abilities and enthusiasm for working alongside emergency clinicians and veterinary support professionals.
In this position, your responsibilities will include:
- Performing advanced surgical procedures and overseeing the management of complex surgical patients.
- Helping select operating theatre equipment, surgical instrumentation and essential resources.
- Establishing effective surgical workflows and contributing to the development of specialist surgical services.
- Collaborating with emergency veterinarians on referred cases and coordinating appropriate postoperative care.
- Maintaining excellent standards of patient safety, surgical technique and communication with referring veterinarians.
