Small Animal Vet Surgeon Job, Oxted, Surrey, England

Small Animal Vet Surgeon Job, Oxted, Surrey, England

Job Description: Our client is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join a busy first-opinion setting offering an interesting combination of routine consultations, surgical procedures and more challenging medical cases. This opportunity is particularly suited to a practitioner who enjoys taking ownership of clinical decisions while working closely with experienced colleagues. With three consultation rooms, a dedicated operating theatre, a dental suite and diagnostic equipment including radiography and ultrasound, the position provides excellent resources for delivering comprehensive patient care and exploring individual veterinary interests.

Working alongside an experienced veterinary surgeon, three nursing professionals and two receptionists, the successful applicant will benefit from a welcoming environment that encourages clinical independence, thoughtful case management and professional development. The role follows a 40-hour working week with a consistent weekday off, complemented by a one-in-six weekend rotation at a nearby 24-hour veterinary facility and shared on-call and bank holiday responsibilities. Ongoing educational opportunities and a collaborative approach to clinical care make this a rewarding position for someone seeking continued professional progression.

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing individual patient cases from initial examination through diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care
  • Utilising available imaging and laboratory resources to investigate medical conditions and guide treatment decisions
  • Undertaking routine surgical procedures while ensuring excellent standards of anaesthesia and patient safety
  • Communicating clinical findings and treatment recommendations clearly to pet owners
  • Contributing to weekend and emergency clinical commitments while maintaining professional standards

Package:

  • A structured 40-hour working week with a regular weekday off and shared weekend commitments
  • Access to dedicated clinical training opportunities and financial assistance towards postgraduate qualifications
  • Five weeks of annual holiday plus bank holidays, with further entitlement available through continued service
  • Private medical insurance and a healthcare cash plan included from the beginning of employment
  • An annual £1,500 CPD allocation together with three paid days for professional learning
  • Professional registration costs covered for RCVS, VDS and BVA memberships
  • Life assurance cover valued at three times the employee’s annual salary
  • An extra paid day for personal use, with potential sabbatical opportunities based on service
  • Commuter benefits incorporating bicycle purchase assistance and public transport season ticket arrangements
  • Confidential counselling assistance available at any time to support individual wellbeing
