In this position, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a varied out-of-hours small animal caseload with confidence and sound clinical judgement
- Carrying out emergency consultations, diagnostics, medical workups, and surgical procedures where required
- Working closely with nursing colleagues to keep patient care efficient, calm, and well-coordinated
- Communicating clearly with pet owners during urgent or time-sensitive situations
- Supporting clinical standards through thoughtful decision-making and a collaborative approach
Qualifications Needed:
- RCVS registration or eligibility to register as a Veterinary Surgeon in the UK
- Strong small animal clinical experience, ideally with confidence in urgent or emergency cases
- Comfortable working independently while still contributing positively within a wider team
- Clear communication skills and a calm, reassuring manner with clients and colleagues
- A proactive approach to clinical development, case ownership, and patient care
Package:
- Weekend-focused rota offering a structured work pattern
- Part-time hours available, with flexibility around the full or partial rota
- Average 18-hour working week across selected Saturday and Sunday shifts
- RCVS and VDS fees covered in full
- Generous CPD allowance with access to extensive learning resources
- Fully funded postgraduate qualification options, including study support
- Up to 33 days annual leave, with buy and sell options available
- Access to clinical mentoring and specialist case support
- Health cash plan and enhanced leave policies included
- Staff pet care discounts across services, food, and medications
