Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced Small Animal Vet Surgeon to take on a senior GP role within a well-established first-opinion setting offering access to advanced diagnostics and referral-level procedures. The ideal candidate will be a confident, capable clinician with strong general practice skills, a particular interest in internal medicine and enough surgical ability to manage routine procedures independently.
This opportunity is especially well suited to a veterinarian with around 7–15 years of post-qualification experience who wants to make a meaningful long-term contribution to clinical development. A medicine-focused certificate would be advantageous, although a highly competent GP with broad medical knowledge and a proactive attitude would also be considered. There is genuine potential for future partnership and equity for someone who proves themselves over time and is motivated to help drive the practice forward.
In this position, your responsibilities will include:
- Manage a varied first-opinion caseload with a strong emphasis on medical workups
- Provide confident routine surgical care alongside consultation-based medicine
- Help expand diagnostic capability, including greater use of endoscopy
- Support clinical standards and contribute ideas for future service development
- Build strong client relationships while working closely with the wider veterinary team
Qualifications Needed:
- MRCVS registration with substantial small animal GP experience
- Strong competence in internal medicine and routine small animal surgery
- Medical certificate or advanced GP qualification advantageous but not essential
- Excellent communication skills with a proactive and commercially aware mindset
- Long-term interest in clinical leadership and potential future ownership
Package:
- Salary negotiable in the region of £60,000–£70,000 depending on experience
- Genuine long-term pathway towards partnership and equity
- Five weeks annual leave plus statutory bank holidays
- Generous CPD allowance with support for further clinical development
- RCVS and VDS membership fees covered
- Workplace pension scheme
- Benenden Healthcare membership
- Staff pet discount and friends-and-family veterinary discount arrangements
- No out-of-hours or overnight duties
- Structured 10-week rota with shared evenings, Saturday mornings and half-days
