Small Animal Vet Surgeon Job, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, England

Small Animal Vet Surgeon Job, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, England

Job Description: Our client is seeking a confident Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a welcoming practice on a part-time basis, working three days each week. The position combines consultations, routine surgery and occasional sole-charge duties within a supportive clinical setting focused on delivering consistently high standards of patient and client care.

The working pattern includes shorter shifts on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, a full day on Friday and participation in a limited Saturday morning rota. There are no Sunday, bank holiday or out-of-hours requirements, making this an appealing opportunity for a vet seeking a predictable and balanced schedule.

The successful applicant will be encouraged to develop professionally, with support available for further qualifications and involvement in mentoring newly qualified veterinarians as a Vet GDP Advisor.

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing routine consultations and developing appropriate treatment plans
  • Performing general surgical procedures with confidence and care
  • Providing sole-charge clinical cover when required
  • Maintaining clear communication with clients throughout each patient’s treatment
  • Supporting less experienced veterinary colleagues where appropriate

Package:

  • Part-time schedule across three established weekdays
  • Tuesday and Wednesday shifts of approximately five hours each
  • Ten-hour working day on Fridays
  • Limited Saturday morning rota from 9:00am to 12:00pm
  • No Sunday, bank holiday or out-of-hours commitments
  • 6.6 weeks of annual leave inclusive of bank holidays
  • RCVS membership fees and professional indemnity cover funded
  • £1,750 annual CPD allowance calculated on a pro-rata basis
  • Enhanced allowance available for certificate holders
  • Supported clinical development and funded training opportunities
