Small Animal Vet Surgeon Job, Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, England

Small Animal Vet Surgeon Job, Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, England

Job Description: Our client is seeking a Small Animal Vet Surgeon to join a friendly and supportive small animal and exotics practice on the Fylde coast. This opportunity is open to vets at different stages of their career, from newly qualified clinicians to experienced surgeons, with the main focus being a genuine desire to contribute to a close-knit and caring team.

The role offers a three-day full-time week, a varied caseload, and excellent clinical support from RVNs, VCAs, and experienced colleagues. With separate patient areas, expanding facilities, a planned CT suite, dedicated exotic wards, and a balanced rota, this position provides a strong mix of professional development, clinical variety, and quality time away from work.

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing small animal and exotics consultations, diagnostics, treatment plans, and follow-up care
  • Performing routine surgical procedures and supporting hospitalised patient care
  • Working with nursing and support teams to maintain smooth daily clinical flow
  • Handling occasional sole charge responsibilities during on-call periods
  • Communicating clearly with clients while delivering compassionate and practical patient care

Qualifications Needed:

  • RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon or eligibility to register
  • Confidence consulting efficiently across a varied caseload
  • Ability to perform at least basic surgical procedures
  • Comfortable with sole charge responsibility during occasional on-call shifts
  • Positive team approach with enthusiasm for small animal and exotics practice

Package:

  • One weekday night on call every two weeks
  • 1:4 Saturday mornings finishing by 12pm
  • Dedicated emergency support after Saturday morning hours
  • 6.6 weeks paid holiday including bank holidays
  • Full-time role based on a three-day working week
  • Salary from £45,000 to £65,000, depending on experience
  • £1,750 CPD allowance per annum
  • RCVS membership, two additional memberships, and VDS cover paid
  • Health cash plan, discounted veterinary fees, company sick pay, annual pay reviews, and wellbeing support included
  • On-site accommodation available during infrequent on-call shifts
