Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon for a rewarding sole-charge first-opinion position offering unusually consistent daytime hours. The caseload is designed to be manageable, allowing time for morning consultations, routine surgical procedures, clinical administration, and afternoon appointments without the pressure of on-call duties. The role would suit a capable GP vet who enjoys developing lasting client relationships and taking ownership of day-to-day clinical decision-making.
Although this is a sole-charge position, additional clinical expertise is readily available for cases requiring advanced diagnostics, surgery, imaging, or overnight care. The working pattern consists of four 9am–5pm weekdays with Wednesdays off, alongside a shared weekend rotation, creating a particularly attractive balance for an experienced veterinarian seeking both clinical independence and predictable working hours.
Package:
- Consistent 9am–5pm weekday shifts across four days each week
- Every Wednesday scheduled as a regular day off
- No on-call requirements attached to the position
- 1-in-3 Saturday rota alongside a 1-in-8 Sunday commitment
- Participation in up to two bank holiday shifts per year
- 6.6 weeks of annual leave including bank holidays, applied pro rata
- Up to £2,000 available annually for continuing professional development
- Up to five paid CPD days each year, applied pro rata
- Private medical healthcare insurance included
- Access to advanced diagnostic, imaging and surgical referral support when required
