Job Description: Our client is seeking a confident Small Animal Vet Surgeon to take on a sole-charge general practice role within a close-knit community setting. This position is ideal for a veterinarian who enjoys continuity of care and values becoming a familiar, trusted presence for local clients and their pets.

The role offers a well-balanced first-opinion caseload, allowing the successful candidate to structure each day effectively across consultations, routine surgery, and clinical administration. The pace of work is designed to be manageable, supporting thoughtful decision-making and consistent patient care.

This opportunity would particularly suit a vet with several years of experience who is looking to settle into a long-term role, take ownership of their practice environment, and work with dependable clinical support available whenever required.

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing first-opinion consultations with clear diagnostic planning
  • Carrying out routine surgical procedures within personal competence
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed clinical records
  • Making timely referral decisions when cases require escalation
  • Working collaboratively with nursing colleagues to ensure smooth daily operations

Qualifications Needed:

  • RCVS registration or eligibility to register in the UK
  • Experience within small animal general practice
  • Confidence working independently in a sole-charge environment
  • Strong communication and client-care skills
  • A calm, organised, and professional clinical approach

Package:

  • Four-day working week providing structure and consistency
  • Sole-charge role with strong regional clinical backup
  • Flexible consideration for part-time or split-site rotas if preferred
  • Shared weekend rota arranged in advance
  • No on-call responsibilities included within the position
  • Annual CPD allowance with paid study leave
  • Support from experienced regional clinical leadership
  • Generous annual leave entitlement including bank holidays
  • Access to advanced referral-level diagnostic and surgical support
