Small Animal Vet Surgeon Job, Cowbridge, Glamorgan, Wales

Job Description: Our client is seeking a dedicated and personable Veterinary Surgeon to join a welcoming small animal practice with an established client base and a highly experienced clinical support team. This opportunity is particularly appealing to a veterinarian who values professional independence while benefiting from guidance and mentorship from an accomplished certificate-holding veterinary colleague. With a strong emphasis on personalised patient care, thorough clinical investigations and building trusted relationships with pet owners, the position offers an excellent environment for developing confidence and exploring individual veterinary interests.

An exciting period of clinical investment is planned, including upgraded equipment and improvements to the working environment, creating opportunities to contribute to the continued development of veterinary services. The successful candidate will enjoy a balanced four-day working week for full-time employment, with part-time arrangements also considered. A one-in-four half-day Saturday commitment, no bank holiday duties and no out-of-hours requirements provide an attractive schedule for maintaining personal commitments alongside a rewarding veterinary career.

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering comprehensive veterinary consultations and implementing appropriate medical and surgical treatment plans
  • Building lasting relationships with pet owners through compassionate communication and individualised clinical advice
  • Participating in collaborative case discussions while developing additional veterinary skills and interests
  • Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and ensuring excellent standards of patient safety and regulatory compliance
  • Contributing to the ongoing improvement of clinical services and the effective use of upgraded veterinary facilities

Qualifications Needed:

  • Recognised veterinary qualifications with current RCVS registration
  • Confidence in routine small animal consultations, diagnostic investigations and general surgical procedures
  • A genuine interest in expanding clinical knowledge through mentorship and continuing education
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a patient-focused approach to veterinary medicine
  • Ability to manage clinical responsibilities independently while working effectively with experienced colleagues

Package:

  • A favourable four-day working week for full-time applicants, with flexible part-time opportunities also considered
  • No out-of-hours or bank holiday clinical commitments, alongside a manageable one-in-four half-day Saturday rota
  • Professional development opportunities supported by experienced veterinary mentorship and funded clinical certificates
  • Complimentary on-site parking to make daily commuting more convenient
  • Five weeks of annual leave plus bank holidays, with enhanced entitlement available through continued service
  • Private medical insurance and healthcare cash benefits provided from the commencement of employment
  • Annual CPD funding of £1,500 accompanied by three dedicated paid educational leave days
  • RCVS, VDS and BVA professional membership fees covered, together with life assurance worth three times annual salary
  • An additional paid personal day with potential extended career-break opportunities based on length of service
  • Confidential counselling assistance available 24 hours a day, alongside cycle purchase and season ticket travel benefits
