Small Animal Night Vet Surgeon Job, Camberwell, London, England

Small Animal Night Vet Surgeon Job, Camberwell, London, England

Job Description: Our client is seeking a capable and enthusiastic Night Veterinary Surgeon to join a dedicated emergency and critical care setting, offering the opportunity to manage a diverse range of urgent medical and surgical presentations. This permanent position is particularly suited to a veterinarian who thrives in an overnight clinical environment, enjoys independent decision-making and is passionate about providing exceptional care to critically ill and injured animals. Working alongside a dedicated night veterinary nurse, the successful applicant will gain valuable exposure to challenging cases while further developing emergency medicine, surgical and intensive care expertise.

The role provides access to advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities, including computed tomography, two fully equipped operating theatres, ultrasonography and endoscopy equipment. A structured seven-nights-on, fourteen-nights-off rolling schedule offers substantial time away from clinical duties, making this an attractive opportunity for someone seeking a distinctive working pattern. With an emphasis on effective emergency response, clinical judgement and close collaboration with nursing colleagues, the position offers a rewarding environment for professional development and high-quality patient care.

Qualifications Needed:

  • Current RCVS registration and recognised veterinary qualifications permitting clinical practice in England
  • Confidence in assessing emergency presentations and managing critically ill or injured small animal patients
  • Competence in routine surgical procedures, diagnostic investigations and urgent medical decision-making
  • Ability to exercise sound independent clinical judgement during overnight shifts
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to effective collaboration with veterinary nursing professionals

Package:

  • A distinctive rolling rota comprising seven consecutive night shifts followed by fourteen nights away from scheduled duties
  • Advanced clinical exposure to emergency medicine, critical care and complex surgical presentations
  • Private medical insurance and healthcare cash benefits available from the beginning of employment
  • Annual professional development funding of £1,500 together with three paid educational leave days, subject to applicable entitlement
  • Funded postgraduate certificate opportunities to support further expertise in emergency and critical care
  • Professional registration and subscription expenses covered for RCVS, VDS and BVA
  • Life assurance protection valued at three times annual salary
  • An additional paid personal day with potential access to extended career breaks based on qualifying service
  • Confidential counselling assistance available around the clock
  • Travel-related benefits including bicycle purchase assistance and public transport season ticket arrangements
