Job Description: Our client is seeking a Medical Director Veterinarian to lead a well-established small animal hospital located in Vacaville, California. This full-time leadership role offers the opportunity to guide a collaborative veterinary team while maintaining an active clinical caseload within a modern, well-equipped practice.
The hospital provides comprehensive companion animal services including preventative care, dentistry, advanced surgery and diagnostics. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians and client service staff to deliver high standards of patient care while also helping shape clinical standards and long-term practice growth.
In this position, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing consultations and performing medical and surgical treatments for small animal patients
- Leading and mentoring veterinarians, technicians and support staff within the hospital
- Overseeing clinical protocols and maintaining high standards of veterinary medicine
- Managing complex cases including orthopedic and soft tissue procedures
- Building strong relationships with clients while supporting preventative care programs
- Collaborating with the hospital leadership team to support operational and clinical development
Qualifications Needed:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an accredited institution
- Eligibility for veterinary licensure within the state of California
- Previous leadership experience such as Lead Veterinarian, Chief of Staff or Medical Director preferred
- Experience managing medical and surgical cases in small animal practice
- Strong communication, mentoring and team leadership abilities
