Job Description: Our client is seeking an accomplished Small Animal Medical Director to combine clinical practice with responsibility for medical standards, team guidance, and the continued development of a busy companion animal hospital. The position offers a varied caseload spanning preventive care, medical investigations, urgent presentations, and surgery, together with the opportunity to mentor colleagues, strengthen clinical protocols, and encourage a positive, accountable working environment.

Qualifications Needed:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or an equivalent recognised qualification
  • Current Colorado veterinary licence or eligibility to obtain one
  • Proven ability to guide clinicians and promote consistently high medical standards
  • Confident communication skills with a thoughtful and collaborative leadership style
  • Commitment to ethical, evidence-based companion animal care

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Set and maintain clear clinical standards across the veterinary team
  • Provide medical, surgical, preventive, and urgent care for cats and dogs
  • Coach veterinarians and support staff through case discussions and practical guidance
  • Review clinical processes and introduce improvements that strengthen patient outcomes
  • Build trusted relationships with clients through clear and compassionate communication
