Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Veterinary Medical Director to lead clinical operations within a busy emergency and urgent care setting. Working closely with the Practice Manager, the successful candidate will oversee medical performance, strengthen clinical procedures and guide veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering exceptional patient care. The position offers considerable professional autonomy, opportunities to mentor developing clinicians and responsibility for maintaining productive relationships with referring veterinarians. Qualifications Needed:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent recognised qualification with eligibility to obtain a Florida veterinary licence.
- A minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience, preferably within a busy emergency or urgent care environment.
- Confidence in emergency patient assessment, stabilisation and complex case management, with ultrasound and surgical experience considered advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal abilities, emotional intelligence and the confidence to guide veterinary professionals in a demanding clinical setting.
- Previous leadership experience is beneficial, alongside a proactive approach to clinical improvement, mentoring and maintaining high medical standards.
In this position, your responsibilities will include:
- Directing clinical operations and implementing effective medical protocols to maintain consistent standards of emergency veterinary care.
- Mentoring emergency veterinarians and veterinary technicians while supporting performance reviews, training and professional development.
- Collaborating with the Practice Manager to strengthen operational efficiency, clinical performance and long-term service development.
- Overseeing complex client medical concerns, maintaining referral relationships and ensuring compassionate communication throughout patient care.
