Small Animal Medical Director Veterinarian Job, Ridgecrest, California, USA

Job Description: Our client is seeking a Small Animal Medical Director Veterinarian to lead a compact and experienced clinical team while remaining actively involved in day-to-day patient care. The position combines medical leadership with a hands-on caseload of dogs and cats, supported by digital dental radiography, digital radiography, diagnostic ultrasound and electronic medical records.

This opportunity is well suited to a veterinarian who enjoys setting clinical standards, supporting colleagues and helping shape the medical direction of a practice. The schedule can be structured on a full-time or part-time basis, with weekday hours only and no weekend requirement, creating an appealing balance between leadership responsibilities and personal time.

Qualifications Needed:

  • DVM degree from an accredited university or recognised equivalent
  • California veterinary licence in good standing, or eligibility to obtain
  • Strong commitment to high-quality clinical standards and professional ethics
  • Confident leadership style with the ability to guide and support veterinary colleagues

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide medical leadership across a team of veterinarians, RVTs and veterinary assistants
  • Oversee clinical quality while continuing to manage a varied small animal caseload
  • Support case discussions, mentoring and consistent treatment standards across the team
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of workflows and clinical decision-making

Package:

  • Sign-on incentive package available
  • Weekday-only working pattern with no weekend requirement
  • Full-time or part-time schedule options
  • Continuing education allowance with paid professional development days
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan with employer contribution
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance options for eligible employees
  • Paid parental leave alongside vacation and sick leave
  • Access to extensive continuing education and clinical learning resources
  • Opportunity to participate in structured clinical study initiatives
  • Support from an established team of veterinary and nursing professionals
