Job Description: Our client is seeking a full-time small animal medical director veterinarian to lead a close-knit general practice team in North Port, Florida. This role would suit an experienced veterinarian with strong leadership capability, a calm clinical approach, and the confidence to guide medical standards, team development, and client care within a collaborative hospital setting.
The position offers the opportunity to work alongside full-time and part-time doctors, technicians, and practice leadership while supporting a positive, safe, and productive clinical environment. The successful veterinarian will combine hands-on general practice medicine with mentoring, workflow oversight, client communication, and long-term development of the hospital team.
In this position, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading daily clinical standards across consultations, diagnostics, treatment planning, and follow-up care
- Mentoring associate veterinarians and supporting practical development plans
- Partnering with the Practice Manager to coordinate schedules, workflow, and team communication
- Guiding the hospital team through daily caseloads while improving efficiency and patient care
- Supporting client education, preventive care, and timely resolution of client concerns
Qualifications Needed:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent qualification
- Florida veterinary licence in good standing, or eligibility to obtain
- Minimum 4 years of veterinary experience
- Leadership experience within a clinical practice setting
- Strong communication skills with clients, doctors, technicians, and support staff
