Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced Small Animal Medical Director Veterinarian to lead a high-performing veterinary team while remaining actively involved in clinical care. This full-time position is ideal for a confident clinician with substantial experience who enjoys mentoring doctors, overseeing medical standards and helping shape the operational direction of a busy practice.
The successful candidate will directly manage and develop a team of veterinarians, support recruitment and onboarding, guide doctor scheduling and act as the senior clinical point of contact for more complex medical concerns. The role also includes oversight of controlled substances, clinical protocols, regulatory compliance and performance metrics, alongside close collaboration with operational and nursing leadership to maintain strong patient care and client service.
Qualifications Needed:
- DVM or equivalent veterinary qualification with active District of Columbia licensure or eligibility
- DEA registration appropriate to the position
- Five or more years of veterinary experience
- Previous experience managing, mentoring or developing veterinary professionals
- Strong communication, leadership and clinical decision-making capabilities
