Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced Medical Director Veterinarian to lead clinical standards while remaining actively involved in small animal general practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a veterinarian who enjoys combining hands-on medicine with leadership, mentoring and responsibility for the ongoing medical direction of a well-established hospital. The caseload includes preventative care, sick patients and emergency presentations across cats and dogs.
The hospital has served the local community since 2007 and is AAHA-accredited, with facilities supporting digital radiography, ultrasound, in-house laboratory diagnostics, soft tissue surgery, ophthalmology and acupuncture. The team also incorporates fear-free techniques where appropriate and places strong emphasis on collaborative patient care.
The position follows a four-day working week consisting of four 10-hour shifts, with participation in a Saturday rotation. The successful veterinarian will have the opportunity to guide medical quality, support the development of colleagues and help shape clinical protocols while continuing to build trusted relationships with clients and their pets.
In this position, your responsibilities will include:
- Provide clinical leadership while maintaining an active general practice caseload
- Guide medical standards, clinical protocols and consistent delivery of high-quality patient care
- Mentor veterinarians and support colleagues through collaborative case discussion and knowledge sharing
- Manage preventative, medical, surgical and urgent small animal cases
- Develop strong client relationships through clear, compassionate communication
Qualifications Needed:
- DVM degree from an accredited veterinary institution or equivalent qualification
- Colorado veterinary licensure in good standing, or eligibility to obtain appropriate licensure
- Strong clinical experience within small animal general practice
- Leadership qualities with an interest in mentoring and developing veterinary colleagues
- Commitment to excellent clinical standards, ethical practice and collaborative medicine
