Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced Medical Director Veterinarian to combine clinical practice with leadership responsibilities in a well-equipped small animal setting. The successful candidate will oversee medical standards, support the development of fellow veterinarians and help maintain efficient, compassionate care for canine and feline patients.

This role offers the opportunity to lead a two-doctor team supported by experienced technicians and registered veterinary staff. Advanced resources include a new ultrasound system, hands-free radiology and a dedicated physical rehabilitation department with an underwater treadmill, cold laser and additional therapy equipment.

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing medical leadership and maintaining consistently high clinical standards
  • Supporting veterinarians through coaching, case discussion and professional guidance
  • Managing consultations, diagnostics, treatment plans and surgical cases
  • Promoting effective communication between clinical staff and pet owners
  • Contributing to operational decisions and improvements in patient care

Qualifications Needed:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or an equivalent recognised qualification
  • Current California veterinary licence in good standing or eligibility to obtain one
  • Previous leadership experience or readiness to progress into a clinical leadership role
  • Strong decision-making, mentoring and interpersonal communication skills
  • Commitment to ethical medicine and continued professional development
