Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced Medical Director to provide clinical leadership within a modern primary and urgent-care practice. The successful veterinarian will maintain an active caseload while guiding medical standards, developing associate veterinarians and helping create a positive, accountable working environment.
Working in partnership with the Practice Manager, this position will influence clinical protocols, doctor scheduling, recruitment and service quality. The role would suit a confident communicator who combines strong veterinary judgement with practical leadership skills and an interest in mentoring others.
Qualifications Needed:
- DVM, VMD or an equivalent veterinary medical qualification
- Current New York veterinary licence in good standing or eligibility to obtain one
- DEA registration and relevant controlled-substance certification where required
- Ideally three to five years of clinical veterinary experience
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience would be advantageous
In this position, your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining consistently high standards of medical and client care
- Coaching associate veterinarians through feedback and case discussions
- Developing and implementing efficient clinical policies and procedures
- Coordinating doctor schedules around patient and staffing requirements
- Supporting recruitment, performance management and workplace development
