Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced Small Animal Medical Director Veterinarian to take clinical leadership of a growing companion animal hospital. This position combines hands-on veterinary medicine with the opportunity to mentor colleagues, strengthen clinical standards and help shape a positive working culture. Recent investment in equipment, including ultrasound and an updated anaesthesia machine, supports high-quality diagnostics and patient care.
The successful candidate will play an active role in coaching veterinary colleagues, encouraging clinical development and maintaining excellent standards across the hospital. Alongside leadership responsibilities, they will continue managing their own cases and building trusted relationships with clients. Predictable scheduling and no on-call responsibilities provide a strong balance between clinical leadership and life outside work.
Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical leadership while remaining actively involved in patient care
- Coach and mentor veterinarians to support confidence and professional growth
- Help develop clinical standards, workflows and the future direction of the hospital
- Build strong client relationships through clear, empathetic communication
- Promote a collaborative environment focused on consistently high-quality medicine
Qualifications Needed:
- DVM degree or equivalent veterinary qualification
- Eligible for veterinary licensure in Ontario
- Demonstrated interest or experience in veterinary leadership and mentoring
- Strong companion animal clinical skills with a commitment to excellent patient care
- Confident communicator able to develop both colleagues and client relationships
