Job Description: Our client is seeking a Small Animal Medical Director Veterinarian to lead a four-doctor team within a newly renovated urban practice. This position combines senior clinical responsibility with mentorship, team development and oversight of medical standards, while still allowing the successful candidate to remain actively involved in complex case management and routine surgery.

The role would suit an experienced veterinarian who enjoys helping others grow, values strong communication and wants to influence how a modern practice develops. With a well-trained support team, in-house diagnostics and an established client base, this is an opportunity to balance leadership responsibilities with meaningful hands-on medicine.

Qualifications Needed:

  • Illinois veterinary licensure, or eligibility to obtain
  • Minimum of four years of clinical veterinary experience
  • Strong communication skills with a genuine interest in team development
  • Confidence managing complex medical cases and routine surgical procedures
  • Leadership capability with a commitment to consistently high clinical standards

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide day-to-day clinical direction across a multi-doctor team
  • Mentor veterinarians and support staff through case discussions and development
  • Take responsibility for complex medical cases and routine surgical work
  • Help maintain consistent clinical standards and effective team collaboration
  • Strengthen client relationships while supporting the continued growth of the practice
