Job Description: Our client is seeking an accomplished Small Animal Medical Director to lead a busy companion animal hospital while continuing to practice progressive, high-quality medicine. This role offers the opportunity to shape clinical standards, mentor veterinarians, and contribute to the long-term success of a modern, well-equipped facility.

The hospital provides comprehensive care for dogs and cats, including preventive wellness, diagnostic workups, soft tissue procedures, and dentistry. With access to digital imaging, ultrasound, and in-house laboratory capabilities, the Medical Director will oversee patient care protocols, support associate development, and ensure a collaborative, patient-focused culture. The position follows a structured weekday schedule within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications Needed:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent qualification  
  • Active California veterinary license in good standing or eligibility to obtain  
  • Strong clinical background in small animal medicine and surgery  
  • Experience mentoring or leading veterinary teams  
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of ethical practice  

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing and maintaining medical protocols across the hospital  
  • Providing guidance and clinical mentorship to associate veterinarians  
  • Managing complex medical and surgical cases  
  • Collaborating with operational leadership to drive hospital performance
