Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced veterinary leader to take on a Medical Director role within a busy small animal specialty and emergency setting. This position blends hands-on clinical involvement with strategic oversight, offering the opportunity to guide medical standards while supporting a multidisciplinary team delivering advanced patient care.

The role is designed for a clinician who enjoys mentoring colleagues, shaping clinical direction, and contributing to operational excellence without losing touch with day-to-day medicine. The Medical Director will play a key role in fostering strong professional relationships, encouraging collaboration, and driving continuous clinical improvement.

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing clinical leadership and guidance across emergency and specialty services  
  • Overseeing medical protocols, standards, and quality assurance processes 
  • Supporting and mentoring veterinarians through coaching and case discussion  
  • Collaborating on workflow efficiency and service development initiatives 
  • Engaging with referring practices to strengthen professional partnerships  

Qualifications Needed:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited institution  
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Texas  
  • Background in emergency or specialty medicine within a high-volume environment  
  • Demonstrated leadership capability and team management experience  
  • Strong communication skills with a collaborative leadership style
