Job Description: Our client is seeking an accomplished and motivated Veterinary Medical Director to lead clinical operations within a highly regarded small animal practice offering a strong foundation of established patient care and experienced veterinary support. This full-time opportunity is ideal for a confident veterinarian who enjoys maintaining an active clinical caseload while taking responsibility for medical quality, professional development and the strategic direction of veterinary services. With an excellent local reputation and a loyal, engaged client base, the position provides significant clinical autonomy and the opportunity to influence patient care standards without the financial responsibilities of practice ownership.
The successful candidate will oversee medical excellence while delivering comprehensive veterinary care for cats and dogs within an AAHA-accredited setting. Experienced veterinary support professionals, hands-free radiology facilities and designated feline and canine areas create an efficient, patient-focused clinical environment. The role also offers opportunities to develop clinical protocols, mentor veterinary colleagues and collaborate with operational professionals to strengthen service delivery and long-term practice performance.
Qualifications Needed:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent recognised qualification from an accredited veterinary institution.
- Current veterinary licensure in New York or eligibility to obtain the appropriate professional registration.
- Strong experience in small animal clinical medicine with the confidence to oversee medical standards and guide veterinary colleagues.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to encourage professional development and maintain effective client communication.
- Commitment to ethical veterinary practice, clinical excellence and continuous improvement in patient care.
Package:
- Opportunity to shape medical direction and clinical standards while maintaining an active companion animal caseload.
- Experienced veterinary support professionals and established operational resources assisting with day-to-day management responsibilities.
- Comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance arrangements with additional healthcare benefits for eligible employees.
- Access to an AAHA-accredited clinical environment featuring hands-free radiology and dedicated feline and canine facilities.
- Employer-matched 401(k) retirement savings contributions supporting long-term financial planning.
- Generous continuing education funding, paid professional development days and opportunities to enhance clinical leadership expertise.
- Paid annual leave, parental leave and sick leave provisions supporting personal and professional commitments.
- Full-time working arrangements within operating hours of 8 am to 6 pm on weekdays and 8 am to 12 pm on Saturdays.
- Opportunities to participate in veterinary clinical research initiatives and strengthen professional interests.
- Discounted veterinary treatment for personal pets, supportive clinical colleagues and additional employee benefit arrangements.
