Job Description: Our client is seeking a full-time Small Animal Medical Director to lead an established, multi-doctor hospital in Schaumburg. This position offers the opportunity to shape the medical direction of the practice while continuing to provide hands-on clinical care across a broad range of companion animal cases.
The hospital is fully staffed with Certified Veterinary Technicians and experienced support personnel, creating a strong foundation for collaborative case management and efficient patient care. Clinical resources include ultrasound, digital dental radiography, therapeutic laser equipment, and access to veterinary specialists when additional expertise is required.
The successful candidate will have autonomy over medical standards, team development, and clinical protocols, while receiving operational support in areas such as human resources, marketing, payroll, and hospital administration. The practice is located near Chicago in a growing community with convenient access to dining, shopping, and outdoor recreation.
Qualifications Needed:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Current Illinois veterinary licence in good standing or eligibility to obtain one.
- Previous veterinary leadership, mentoring, or senior clinical experience is preferred.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality and compassionate small animal medicine.
- Confidence managing preventative care, internal medicine, surgery, and dentistry.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to balance clinical duties with leadership and operational responsibilities.
- Collaborative and supportive approach to team management.
- Sound clinical judgement and effective decision-making abilities.
