Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced and adaptable Locum Veterinarian to provide maternity leave cover within an established veterinary practice in Central Otago. Beginning in mid-to-late March 2027, this opportunity offers the possibility of a longer placement through to the end of the year, although shorter periods of availability may also be considered. The position is particularly suited to a confident veterinary professional who enjoys providing continuity of patient care, integrating into an existing clinical team and maintaining high standards of veterinary medicine throughout temporary assignments.
The successful candidate will support clinical services across two veterinary locations, contributing to daily consultations, patient assessments and appropriate treatment planning according to their experience. Strong communication, sound independent judgement and the ability to work effectively with established veterinary colleagues will be valuable throughout the placement. With opportunities to discuss shorter assignments, potentially including four-to-eight-week periods, this position offers flexibility for experienced locums seeking a rewarding clinical opportunity in a scenic region.
Qualifications Needed:
- Recognised veterinary degree with current eligibility for registration and professional practice in New Zealand.
- Previous clinical veterinary experience and confidence managing consultations and treatment decisions appropriate to the assigned caseload.
- Ability to adapt to established clinical procedures and work effectively across two veterinary locations.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to supporting colleagues and maintaining continuity of patient care.
- Availability from mid-to-late March 2027 for an agreed period, with longer placements particularly welcomed.
