Small Animal Lead Vet Surgeon Job, Hampstead, London, England

Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced Small Animal Vet Surgeon to take on a lead clinical role within a busy first-opinion setting. This position combines day-to-day patient care with responsibility for mentoring colleagues, strengthening clinical standards and helping shape the future direction of the clinic.

The successful candidate will remain hands-on with consultations and procedures while also supporting team development, client experience and operational performance. This role would suit either an established Lead Vet or an experienced Veterinary Surgeon ready to move into leadership, with the confidence to coach others and contribute ideas that improve both clinical delivery and team culture.

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead clinical discussions and support consistent veterinary and nursing standards
  • Mentor colleagues through structured coaching and individual development plans
  • Oversee consultations, procedures, admissions, discharges and clinical handovers
  • Work closely with the Practice Manager on performance, workflow and service improvement
  • Maintain strong client communication while supporting the continued growth of the clinic

Qualifications Needed:

  • RCVS registration with strong small animal clinical experience
  • Demonstrable leadership, mentoring or coaching capability
  • Confidence managing consultations, procedures and clinical decision-making
  • Strong understanding of client care, compliance and professional standards
  • Ability to influence team performance while working collaboratively with colleagues

Package:

  • £1,500 CPD allowance
  • Full-time permanent position
  • Opportunity to shape the clinical direction of the clinic
  • Ongoing hands-on involvement in patient care
  • Scope to mentor graduates and experienced colleagues
  • Leadership responsibility across veterinary and nursing standards
  • Close partnership with the Practice Manager on clinic development
  • Professional development through continued clinical learning
  • Opportunity to build wider operational and commercial leadership experience
  • Senior role with meaningful influence over team culture and service quality
