Job Description: Our client is seeking a Small Animal Emergency Veterinarian to join a high-acuity emergency and referral hospital on Long Island. This full-time position is centred on urgent and critical companion animal cases, with some exposure to exotics, and would suit a veterinarian who thrives in a fast-moving clinical environment where advanced diagnostics and specialist input are readily available.
The hospital operates around the clock and provides immediate access to critical care, internal medicine, surgery and oncology support. Advanced imaging and treatment resources include CT, MRI, multiple ultrasound units and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, creating a strong environment for complex case management and rapid clinical decision-making.
A teaching-focused culture with case rounds, mentorship and collaboration provides additional support for veterinarians who want to continue developing their emergency and critical care skills while managing a challenging and varied caseload.
In this position, your responsibilities will include:
- Assess and stabilise emergency and critically ill small animal patients
- Develop diagnostic and treatment plans for high-acuity presentations
- Collaborate with specialist clinicians on complex or referred cases
- Communicate clearly with owners during urgent and emotionally challenging situations
- Participate in clinical rounds, case discussion and shared learning
Qualifications Needed:
- DVM or equivalent veterinary qualification from an accredited institution
- Current New York veterinary licence or eligibility to obtain one
- Confidence managing urgent and emergency companion animal cases
- Strong clinical judgement and ability to work effectively under pressure
- Commitment to high standards of veterinary medicine and professional ethics
