Small Animal Emergency Veterinarian Job, Tacoma, Washington, USA

Small Animal Emergency Veterinarian Job, Tacoma, Washington, USA

Job Description: Our client is seeking a versatile and compassionate Urgent Care Veterinarian to join a well-established, AAHA-accredited small animal practice offering an exciting combination of general veterinary medicine, surgical procedures and walk-in urgent care services. Maintaining AAHA accreditation for more than 35 years, this opportunity provides an excellent environment for veterinarians who enjoy clinical variety, independent decision-making and collaborative patient care. The position welcomes both experienced clinicians and recent graduates, with dedicated mentorship available for those developing their confidence in urgent care medicine. With an established client base and a genuine commitment to community animal welfare, this role offers the opportunity to deliver meaningful veterinary care across a diverse and rewarding caseload.

The successful candidate will encounter everything from routine wellness examinations, vaccinations and chronic disease management to more demanding surgical and urgent medical presentations. Clinical responsibilities may include foreign body surgery, caesarean sections, dystocia management, wound repairs, enucleations, dental procedures and the treatment of injured or acutely unwell animals. The facilities include seven consultation rooms, two surgical suites, two isolation areas, digital and dental radiography, an oxygen kennel and comprehensive in-house laboratory services. Opportunities to work with exotic animals may also be available for interested clinicians, while flexible scheduling and experienced colleagues provide a supportive foundation for continued professional growth.

Package:

  • Flexible full-time and part-time employment opportunities, with operating hours extending into the evening on selected weekdays and Saturdays.
  • Dedicated mentorship for recent graduates and opportunities to develop confidence across general practice, urgent care and surgery.
  • Access to seven consultation rooms, two operating theatres, dedicated isolation facilities and three patient kennel wards.
  • Modern clinical equipment including digital radiography, dental imaging, updated dental technology and an in-house diagnostic laboratory.
  • 401(k) retirement savings arrangements with employer matching contributions for eligible employees.
  • Continuing education funding, paid professional development days and access to extensive veterinary learning resources.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance options, including additional eligible healthcare benefits.
  • Paid parental leave, holiday entitlement and sick leave provisions supporting personal and professional commitments.
  • Opportunities to participate in clinical research programmes and community animal welfare initiatives.
  • Employee discounts on veterinary services, eligibility for additional variable compensation programmes and exposure to a diverse urgent care caseload.
