Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced Small Animal Emergency Veterinarian to join a well-established specialty and emergency setting with daytime, swing and overnight opportunities available. This role is ideal for a clinician who enjoys the pace and variety of emergency medicine while valuing clinical autonomy, strong technical support and a structured working pattern.

The successful veterinarian will manage a diverse emergency caseload with access to digital radiography, ultrasound, extensive in-house laboratory equipment, endoscopy, oxygen cages and a dedicated emergency surgical suite. Close collaboration with experienced emergency clinicians and board-certified specialists provides additional support when managing complex or critically ill patients.

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing and stabilising emergency patients while developing appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans
  • Performing diagnostic procedures and surgery when clinically indicated
  • Communicating clearly with pet owners regarding findings, treatment options and ongoing care
  • Maintaining accurate medical records and following controlled medication protocols
  • Overseeing cases from admission through discharge while supporting efficient clinical workflows

Qualifications Needed:

  • DVM or VMD degree from an accredited veterinary institution
  • Current New Jersey veterinary licence or eligibility to obtain one
  • DEA registration with ability to maintain required credentials
  • At least one year of veterinary emergency experience
  • Strong diagnostic, surgical, communication and case-management capabilities
