Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced Small Animal Emergency Veterinarian to join a modern emergency and critical care clinic in Hawthorn East, Victoria. This permanent part-time opportunity is suited to a confident ECC clinician who values clinical challenge, supportive teamwork, sustainable rostering, and strong communication with clients during urgent care situations.
The role offers 40 to 60 hours per fortnight, with exposure to a wide range of emergency cases across consulting, surgery, medicine, and intensive care. You will work within a skilled ECC team that prioritises mentorship, knowledge-sharing, transparency, and patient-first medicine, with flexible 10-hour shifts designed to protect work-life balance.
In this position, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing emergency consultations, surgical cases, medical workups, and intensive care patients
- Providing calm, clear communication to clients throughout their pet’s emergency care journey
- Working collaboratively with ECC veterinarians, nurses, and support staff across a 24-hour hospital setting
- Supporting shared clinical decision-making, case discussion, and knowledge-sharing within the team
- Contributing to a positive emergency culture built around kindness, ownership, teamwork, and growth
Qualifications Needed:
- Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent qualification recognised in Australia
- Current or eligible registration with the Veterinary Surgeons Board of Victoria
- Ideally five years post-graduation experience with at least three years in ECC
- Strong emergency foundations with confidence managing a broad range of urgent cases
- Collaborative, client-focused approach with excellent communication and resilience
