Job Description: Our client is seeking a Small Animal Emergency Veterinarian to join a busy multidisciplinary hospital managing both primary emergency presentations and referred cases. The role offers excellent exposure to complex ECC patients, shared management of hospitalised cases and regular collaboration with specialists across emergency and critical care, surgery and internal medicine.

This opportunity is available on either a permanent part-time or full-time basis, with flexibility around hours. Shifts are typically 10 or 12.5 hours across a 24-hour roster and include both day and overnight work. The successful candidate will benefit from structured support, shadow shifts with senior clinicians and no sole-charge requirement, making this an excellent environment for both experienced emergency veterinarians and clinicians looking to strengthen their ECC capability.

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assess and manage primary emergency and referred small animal cases
  • Provide ongoing treatment and monitoring for critically ill hospitalised patients
  • Collaborate with specialist clinicians on complex ICU and referral cases
  • Perform routine and emergency surgical procedures where appropriate
  • Contribute to case discussions, knowledge sharing and high standards of patient care

Qualifications Needed:

  • DVM degree or equivalent veterinary qualification
  • Current veterinary registration in Victoria
  • Emergency veterinary experience desirable, although motivated clinicians developing ECC skills will be considered
  • Interest or experience in routine and emergency surgery advantageous
  • Strong communication skills with a collaborative and compassionate approach

Package:

  • Up to five weeks annual leave plus study leave
  • Structured shadow shifts and ongoing senior clinical support
  • No sole-charge requirement
  • Membership study support and continuing education opportunities
  • Access to advanced diagnostic, critical care and surgical equipment
  • Paid parental leave with flexible return-to-work arrangements
  • Employee veterinary and pet care discounts
  • Permanent part-time or full-time working arrangements available
  • Flexible hours with approximately 120 hours across a four-week rotation where applicable
  • Generous hourly remuneration
