Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a strong background in emergency and critical care to join a dedicated overnight clinical team. This position offers exposure to a challenging and diverse caseload, encompassing urgent medical presentations, emergency surgery and the ongoing management of hospitalised patients. The successful candidate will be supported overnight by experienced nursing and clinical support colleagues, with extended consultation times allowing thorough assessment of emergency cases.
Working on a 7-nights-on, 14-nights-off rota, the role provides substantial time away from work while maintaining involvement in advanced emergency medicine. Clinical facilities include CT, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, laparoscopy, ECG, dental imaging and extensive surgical equipment. The caseload regularly includes complex medical emergencies alongside procedures such as caesareans, pyometra surgery and exploratory laparotomies.
Qualifications Needed:
- Qualified Veterinary Surgeon eligible for RCVS registration
- Previous emergency and critical care experience is essential
- Strong medical assessment and emergency surgical capabilities
- Confidence managing complex and critically unwell small animal patients
- Ability to work effectively within a dedicated overnight clinical team
