Job Description: Our client is seeking a Small Animal Emergency Medical Director to lead clinical operations within a busy emergency and urgent care setting. This role combines hands-on emergency work with leadership responsibilities, ensuring high standards of care while driving team performance and clinical excellence.
This position is ideal for an experienced emergency veterinarian with leadership skills who enjoys mentoring teams, shaping clinical protocols, and contributing to the growth and success of a high-performing hospital. You will work closely with management to support both clinical and operational outcomes.
In this position, your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing emergency and urgent care clinical services
- Leading and developing the veterinary team through mentoring and coaching
- Establishing and maintaining clinical protocols and best practices
- Managing clinical performance and ensuring high-quality patient care
- Building relationships with referring veterinarians and clients
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and clinical standards
- Providing hands-on emergency care including diagnostics, surgery, and case management
Qualifications Needed:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent
- Licensure (or eligibility) to practice in Florida
- Minimum 2+ years of clinical experience, ideally in emergency or high-volume settings
- Emergency or urgent care experience preferred
- Leadership experience preferred
- Strong clinical, communication, and leadership skills
