Job Description: Our client is seeking a full-time Companion Animal Veterinarian to join a supportive small animal environment serving communities across Waipā, including Otorohanga, Te Awamutu, and Te Kūiti. The role combines companion animal medicine and surgery with the opportunity to establish lasting client relationships, manage a varied caseload, and contribute meaningfully to the continued development of local veterinary services. There are no after-hours on-call requirements, while referral support is available across areas including surgery, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, dermatology, exotics, and dentistry.

Qualifications Needed:

  • Veterinary degree with New Zealand Veterinary Council registration or eligibility for registration
  • Confidence managing companion animal medical and surgical cases
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to build trusted relationships with pet owners
  • Collaborative approach to working with veterinary and nursing colleagues
  • Commitment to delivering consistently high standards of patient care

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage consultations, medical cases, and routine small animal surgical procedures
  • Develop clear treatment plans and guide owners through ongoing healthcare decisions
  • Work across the Waipā area as required to support established client communities
  • Coordinate with referral clinicians when patients require additional specialist input
  • Contribute positively to clinical standards and the ongoing development of veterinary services
