Small Animal Associate Veterinarian Job, Sunbury, Victoria, Australia

Job Description: Our client is seeking a Small Animal Associate Veterinarian for a permanent position that can be structured on either a part-time or full-time basis, with a minimum commitment of 24 hours per week. The role provides a varied companion animal caseload covering preventive medicine, consultations, diagnostics, routine procedures, surgery, and dentistry, supported by a full in-house laboratory, digital X-ray, ultrasound, and dedicated surgical and dental facilities.

The successful veterinarian will work alongside an experienced Lead Veterinarian and capable nursing colleagues in an environment that encourages clinical development and flexible working arrangements. Rostering can be tailored around individual preferences, including four longer working days or five shorter days. Rotating Saturdays form part of the position and may involve sole-charge routine consultations, with emergency cases able to be referred externally.

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage routine consultations and preventive healthcare across a varied small animal caseload
  • Undertake diagnostic investigations using in-house laboratory, ultrasound, and digital imaging resources
  • Perform general practice surgical and dental procedures according to clinical experience
  • Handle occasional sole-charge Saturday consultations with confidence and sound judgement
  • Build positive client relationships through clear, compassionate, and professional communication

Qualifications Needed:

  • Bachelor of Veterinary Science or an equivalent qualification recognised in Australia
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria
  • Ideally at least one year of veterinary experience, with flexibility for a suitable applicant
  • Calm and organised approach to clinical work with strong interpersonal abilities
  • Proactive attitude toward continued professional and clinical development

Package:

  • Choice of part-time or full-time employment with a minimum of 24 hours per week
  • Flexible roster options including longer or shorter working days
  • $1,500 annual continuing professional development allowance
  • One week of paid study leave, adjusted proportionately where applicable
  • Annual Veterinary Board registration fees covered
  • Radiation licence and in-clinic VIN membership provided
  • Long-term cash bonus opportunity linked to continued service
  • Novated vehicle leasing arrangements available
  • Rotating Saturday roster with emergency referral options
  • Access to ongoing veterinary education and career development opportunities
