Small Animal Associate Veterinarian Job, Rochester, New York, USA

Job Description: Our client is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join a well-established small animal practice that has been caring for pets and their owners for more than four decades. The hospital offers a broad general practice caseload encompassing preventative medicine, diagnostics, dentistry and surgery, with digital radiography, digital dental imaging and comprehensive in-house laboratory facilities available to support efficient clinical decision-making.

This opportunity offers an appealing four-day working week with no on-call requirements, giving the successful veterinarian greater consistency outside of work while retaining clinical autonomy. You will join experienced veterinary colleagues with more than 20 years of combined expertise, including advanced knowledge in orthopedic surgery, providing a collaborative setting where cases can be discussed and skills continually developed.

The role would suit a confident clinician who enjoys building lasting relationships with clients, delivering compassionate patient care and contributing positively to an experienced veterinary team.

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Carry out comprehensive consultations, examinations and medical investigations
  • Perform routine diagnostic procedures, dentistry and general surgical cases
  • Develop appropriate treatment plans while clearly communicating recommendations to pet owners
  • Maintain detailed clinical records and prescribe medications in accordance with relevant protocols
  • Work collaboratively with veterinary and support colleagues to maintain excellent standards of patient care

Qualifications Needed:

  • DVM degree from an accredited veterinary institution
  • Current state veterinary license with DEA registration obtained and maintained as required
  • At least one year of experience within a veterinary practice preferred
  • Strong general practice, diagnostic, surgical and dental capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills with a compassionate and collaborative approach to patient and client care

Package:

  • Four-day working week supporting a consistent work-life balance
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Clinical autonomy across a varied general practice caseload
  • Production bonus structure with no negative accrual option available
  • Signing and retention incentives of up to $75,000 for eligible candidates
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance coverage
  • Paid parental leave for birth, adoption and foster placement
  • Continuing education allowance and professional development resources
  • 401(k) plan with discretionary employer contribution
  • Team member discounts on eligible veterinary care
