Job Description: Our client is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join a well-established independent small animal practice that has been caring for its community since 1964. The practice has built a loyal client base through a strong emphasis on exceptional patient care, client education and taking the time to develop genuine relationships with pet owners. Appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes, allowing veterinarians to thoroughly discuss cases, explain treatment options and help owners make informed decisions about their pets’ care. The caseload is predominantly dogs and cats in an approximately 50:50 split, with a small number of pocket pets including rabbits and ferrets.
The ideal candidate will be a personable and motivated veterinarian who wants to become an important part of the practice and its community. One to two years of experience would be preferred, although a new graduate may also be considered. There is a strong focus on developing clinical skills rather than routinely referring cases, and mentorship can include surgery, dentistry and case management. For an experienced veterinarian with longer-term ambitions, there may also be an opportunity to explore future ownership or partnership, although this is not a requirement of the position.
In this position, your responsibilities will include:
- Manage a varied first-opinion caseload encompassing preventative, medical, diagnostic and surgical care
- Build meaningful relationships with clients through detailed consultations and ongoing education
- Provide veterinary care primarily for dogs and cats, with occasional rabbit, ferret and other pocket pet cases
- Develop cases thoroughly while working closely with experienced technicians and support colleagues
- Contribute to the continued clinical development and long-term growth of the practice
Qualifications Needed:
- DVM or equivalent veterinary qualification with appropriate state licensure
- Ideally one to two years of clinical experience, although suitable new graduates may be considered
- Strong communication skills with a genuine interest in client education and relationship building
- Motivation to continue developing surgical, dental and general practice capabilities
- Commitment to delivering thoughtful, high-quality patient care
