Small Animal Associate Veterinarian Job, Flat Bush, Auckland, New Zealand

Job Description: Our client is seeking a Small Animal Associate Veterinarian to join a modern, purpose-designed companion animal clinic with a strong focus on compassionate care, clinical quality, and personalised service. This opportunity is ideal for a veterinarian who enjoys building client relationships, working with a varied small animal caseload, and being part of a supportive environment where patient comfort is prioritised.

The role offers exposure to general practice, preventative healthcare, dentistry, diagnostic imaging, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedic procedures, reproduction services, pet export support, and in-house diagnostics. With thoughtfully designed facilities, separate cat and dog areas, and access to a broad range of equipment, this position provides excellent scope for clinical development in a friendly and well-organised setting.

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing high-quality small animal consultations, wellness care, diagnostics, and treatment planning
  • Managing preventative health cases, vaccinations, parasite control, nutrition discussions, and routine check-ups
  • Supporting surgical, dental, imaging, reproduction, and medical cases according to clinical confidence and experience
  • Communicating clearly with clients to ensure they feel informed, supported, and reassured throughout their pet’s care
  • Working collaboratively with the wider team to maintain smooth workflow and a calm, positive clinic experience

Qualifications Needed:

  • Veterinary degree with eligibility for registration in New Zealand
  • Confidence handling a varied small animal caseload
  • Strong communication skills with clients, colleagues, and support staff
  • Compassionate approach to patient care with attention to low-stress handling
  • Interest in continued learning across medicine, surgery, dentistry, imaging, or reproduction

Package:

  • Competitive salary package based on experience and clinical capability
  • Supportive companion animal clinic environment with a patient-focused approach
  • Purpose-designed facilities with separate areas for cats and dogs
  • Access to digital imaging, ultrasound, dental equipment, in-house diagnostics, and surgical services
  • Opportunity to develop interests across surgery, dentistry, reproduction, exports, and general practice
  • Friendly team culture with a strong emphasis on quality care and client trust
  • Structured working week with weekday hours and Saturday morning opening
  • No Sunday opening hours
  • Scope to grow professionally within a modern and well-equipped clinical setting
  • Excellent opportunity to work with a loyal local pet-owning community
