Job Description: Our client is seeking a motivated small animal veterinarian for a long-term clinical role in the scenic Wairarapa region. This opportunity offers a varied caseload focused on companion animal medicine and surgery, within a supportive multidisciplinary environment. You’ll be contributing to high standards of patient care while building strong relationships with both the team and the local community.

The successful candidate will enjoy a balanced mix of routine wellness consultations, surgical procedures, and diagnostic work, supported by modern clinical facilities. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative setting and wants to grow professionally alongside experienced colleagues.

In this position, your responsibilities will include:  

  • Delivering thorough health assessments and treatment plans for cats, dogs and other small pets  
  • Performing routine and elective surgical procedures with sound judgement  
  • Communicating effectively and compassionately with caregivers  
  • Working hand-in-hand with nursing and support staff to optimise patient care  
  • Contributing to continued improvement of clinical protocols

Qualifications Needed:  

  • Veterinary degree recognised for practice in New Zealand  
  • Small animal clinical experience with a focus on practical problem-solving  
  • Competence in surgical and medical case management  
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a client-focused approach  
  • A collaborative mindset and eagerness to engage in team-based care
