Job Details: This is a fantastic opportunity for a small animal Associate Veterinarian with avian/exotic experience or an interest in learning, working Monday – Friday with no weekends or on call work.
This is a privately owed Hospital who do both GP and urgent care so can provide a nice balance if you are looking for variety. If you have emergency background or interest then it would greatly help with the urgent care work.
Whilst they have hospital standards for things, they never dictate to the owner what they should do but instead follow informed consent by offering them a range of options, each with their own costs and outcomes. Their goal is to work with owners as a team, to be their partner in helping them to make informed decisions about the wellbeing of their pet and to a standard of care that the owner is comfortable with. So, they are looking for vets that are interested in client education. They want people who enjoy and value being able to think for themselves and do what is always in the best interest of the patient and their family.
They would prefer someone with a minimum of 2-3 years experience but would also consider a new or recent graduate. They hire for culture and have worked hard over the years to learn how to build and protect their culture and how to hire for culture first and foremost.
Prior to becoming a veterinarian, the owner of this hospital used to be an emergency and critical care RVT for 25 years where part of her job was to train vet students on technical skills and other parts of case management. She loves to teach and one of the reasons they are hiring is that they need her to be able to focus more of her time on her role as medical director, providing mentorship, improving policies and procedures in order to be able to assure they maintain the high standard of care their hospital has become known for. So it should be anticipated that whoever they hire will receive a fantastic level of mentorship.
