Job Description: Our client is seeking a Board-Certified or Residency-Trained Veterinary Ophthalmologist to join a highly advanced emergency and specialty setting delivering complex referral care. The position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced specialists, emergency clinicians, technicians, and support professionals within an 8,500-square-foot facility equipped with digital radiography, CT, ultrasound, intensive and oxygen care units, advanced laboratory diagnostics, an in-house pharmacy, and ventilatory support.
This role would suit a specialist who combines excellent ophthalmic clinical skills with compassionate client communication and a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary case management. The successful veterinarian will manage specialist examinations and medical work-ups, contribute to treatment planning and clinical protocols, maintain thorough medical documentation, and help uphold excellent standards throughout the patient journey.
In this position, your responsibilities will include:
- Perform comprehensive specialist examinations, diagnostic investigations, and ophthalmic medical work-ups
- Develop and communicate appropriate treatment plans while educating clients clearly about available options
- Collaborate with emergency clinicians and other specialists on complex and multidisciplinary cases
- Maintain accurate medical records and follow appropriate medication and controlled-substance protocols
- Contribute to clinical rounds, hospital protocols, and consistently high standards of patient care
Qualifications Needed:
- DVM or VMD degree from an accredited veterinary institution
- Completion of a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine, surgery, and emergency care
- Completion of a three-year AVMA-approved ophthalmology residency program
- Board certification preferred, with residency-trained candidates also considered
- Current state veterinary licence together with the ability to obtain and maintain required DEA registration
