Mixed Animal Vet Surgeon Job, Johnstown, County Kilkenny, Ireland

Mixed Animal Vet Surgeon Job, Johnstown, County Kilkenny, Ireland

Job Description: Our client is seeking a Mixed Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established rural practice offering a genuinely varied and engaging caseload across both farm and companion animal work. This role is well suited to a veterinarian who enjoys diversity in their clinical day and values being part of a close-knit, collaborative team.

The position blends large animal farm responsibilities with small animal consulting and surgery, creating a balanced workload that supports skill development across disciplines. The working environment encourages shared learning, practical decision-making, and steady professional growth, with support available for both experienced clinicians and those earlier in their careers.

This role offers consistent structure while still allowing exposure to emergency and routine cases, ensuring no two weeks feel the same. The practice culture promotes teamwork, reliability, and long-term client relationships built on trust and continuity of care.

In this position, your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering routine and emergency farm animal services including herd health work
  • Carrying out small animal consultations and surgical procedures
  • Participating in an on-call rota with shared regional support
  • Managing clinical cases efficiently across mixed disciplines
  • Working closely with colleagues to maintain smooth daily operations

Package:

  • Balanced mixed caseload with clear role structure
  • Practice vehicle provided for farm work
  • Professional fees covered as part of employment
  • Funded continuing education with allocated study leave
  • Supportive rota system with shared out-of-hours coverage
  • Exposure to modern diagnostic and treatment equipment
  • Encouragement for clinical learning at all career stages
  • Stable full-time hours with predictable scheduling
  • Friendly and experienced support team environment
