Mixed Animal Vet Surgeon Job, Drumahoe, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland

Mixed Animal Vet Surgeon Job, Drumahoe, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland

Job Description: Our client is seeking two experienced Mixed Animal Vets to join a well-established clinical setting combining small animal and farm animal work. The role offers an exceptionally varied caseload, with companion animal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and orthopaedic cases alongside farm work covering sick animal visits, herd health planning, fertility management, and consultancy.

The farm caseload ranges from dairy herds of approximately 30 to 1,100 cows and also includes suckler cattle, beef finishing units, sheep, equine patients, and camelids. The successful veterinarians will work within a large, experienced clinical team and benefit from excellent facilities, comprehensive support staff, and clear opportunities to progress professionally or take on additional leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications Needed:

  • Veterinary degree with appropriate eligibility to practise in Northern Ireland
  • Previous mixed practice experience with confidence across both farm and small animal cases
  • Sound clinical judgement across medicine, surgery, herd health, and emergency presentations
  • Strong communication skills when working with clients, farmers, and veterinary colleagues
  • Interest in continued professional development, with certificate study actively encouraged

Package:

  • Full-time position with a structured 1-in-4 out-of-hours rota
  • Time off in lieu provided for weekend duties
  • Accommodation and a company vehicle included within the employment offering
  • 6.6 weeks of annual leave including bank holidays
  • £1,750 annual continuing professional development allowance
  • Professional membership fees and relevant subscriptions covered
  • Professional indemnity protection provided
  • Enhanced parental and family leave provisions
  • Company sick pay alongside discounted veterinary care
  • Strong support for certificate study, further training, career progression, and leadership development
