Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced Mixed Animal Locum Veterinarian to provide temporary clinical support during a busy recruitment and transition period. This opportunity is particularly suited to a confident veterinary professional who enjoys the variety of working with both production animals and companion animals, appreciates collaborative working relationships and can adapt comfortably to an established clinical team. Locum opportunities are available throughout December 2026 and January 2027, with particular interest in veterinarians who would consider an extended placement from December through to May 2027.
Beyond delivering high-quality veterinary care, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to support recently qualified veterinarians as they begin their professional careers. With permanent colleagues joining during January and February, experienced locums will play a valuable role in sharing practical knowledge, discussing clinical cases and helping newer clinicians develop confidence. This position offers a rewarding combination of hands-on veterinary medicine, professional mentorship and flexible locum engagement.

- Established clinical experience in mixed animal veterinary medicine, including confidence handling both livestock and companion animal cases.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively alongside veterinarians at different stages of their careers.
- Willingness to offer practical clinical guidance and reassurance to newly qualified veterinary colleagues.
- Adaptability, independent clinical judgement and a commitment to maintaining high standards of veterinary care.
Package:
- Locum assignments available during December 2026 and January 2027, with longer placements extending to May 2027 particularly welcomed.
- Opportunity to provide valuable clinical mentorship to recently qualified veterinarians during their first months of professional practice.
- Varied veterinary workload offering exposure to both production animal medicine and companion animal healthcare.
- Flexible placement durations that may accommodate different professional availability and locum commitments.
- An opportunity to contribute during a period of team expansion as three permanent veterinarians join.
- Collaborative case discussions and opportunities to share practical knowledge with developing clinicians.
- A rewarding professional setting for experienced veterinarians who enjoy combining clinical independence with supportive teamwork.
- Scope to establish strong professional relationships during an extended locum placement.
- Opportunities to apply established veterinary expertise while supporting continuity of patient care.
